This is the website for Insight Meditation Central Valley (formerly Insight Meditation Modesto). If you’re a little lost coming from the old site, click on the News link and you’ll be on a page that is our “blog” with a running list of posts.
The purpose of this organization is to cultivate and support the practice of Buddhist Insight meditation (sometimes also called mindfulness meditation) or Vipassana practice in the Modesto and Stockton, California area. This type of meditation is based on the Theravada Buddhist traditions of the Ajahn Chah and Mahasi Sayadaw lineages in Asia and the Western Insight tradition as brought to the West by Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield and teachers in that lineage.
