This is the website for Insight Meditation Central Valley, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
The purpose of this organization is to cultivate and support the practice of Buddhist Insight meditation (sometimes also called mindfulness meditation) or Vipassana practice in the Modesto, California area. This type of meditation is based on the Theravada Buddhist traditions of the Ajahn Chah and Mahasi Sayadaw lineages in Asia and the Western Insight tradition as brought to the West by Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield and teachers in that lineage.

All Meetings To Be Held Online Until Further Notice
Out of compassion for each other and the wider community, with the intent to do no harm, we will be conducting our sangha meetings and programs online via Zoom at their usual time until further notice to mitigate and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
We all long for human connection and this connection is vital to our well-being. We hope you will give Zoom a try. It is a rich environment, allowing us to see and communicate with one another and to have personal interactions like breakouts and small discussion groups, albeit not physically in the same room.
Zoom can be used from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. For those who only have non-smart phones, you can call in, but you will not have video.
If you have never used Zoom before and are a little apprehensive, here is a short video tutorial on how to join a Zoom meeting. We encourage you to try Zoom!
If it is your first time using Zoom, we recommend that join the meeting at least 15 minutes before the meeting starts, so you will have time to install the app, to join the meeting, and get an orientation before the meeting begins. The person who is leading will be online 15 minutes before the start of the regular meeting time to assist you.
Please contact us for the Zoom Meeting Link at email@example.com.
For best results, we recommend using a device that has a camera and microphone so that you can see and communicate with everyone. If you have a desktop computer without a camera or microphone, you might want to use at tablet or smartphone. Some people find it helpful to have a headset if you’re in a noisy environment or find it difficult to hear.
All are welcome. If it is your first time and you are not familiar with meditation, please come about 15 minutes early. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 579564, Modesto, CA 95357.
